Jacob was born August 18,1848 in Russellville,West Virginia,Nicholas County.

Jacob moved to Cedar Falls,Iowa,before moving to Plymouth County.In 1878 they moved to a farm near Bronson,Iowa,were they farmed.

He the son of Samuel H. Amick and Mary A. "Peggy" Copenhaver.

He married Sarah Frances Haynes on April 13,1868 in Russellville,West Virginia.

They were blessed with 12 children;Mary,Andrew Wesley,Ella,Cora,Laura,William "Will".,Lydia,Walter L.,Daniel,Pvt. Theodore J.,Charles Andrew and Mattie Mae Amick.

His siblings brothers and sisters were;Rachel,Ellen,Mary,Catherine,Christopher,William Franklin,Barbara,Charles,Isaac,Ruckland"Rooklyn",Elvira,Lydia,Sayeth "Seth" Amick.

He established the Amick school which was located west of Bronson,until it consoldidated to Bronson where he served as Tresurer for several years.

He passed away at the age of 64.
His was first buried in the Floyd Township Cemetery then later moved to Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City,Iowa.
