Mr. Vincent C. Sabino, 83, of Manchester, NH died Thursday August 24, 2006 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester following a short illness Born on May 15, 1923 in Manhattan, the son of the late Vincent and Rose (Ackerly) Sabino. He was educated in the Bronx schools. In 1944 Mr. Sabino joined the US Army and served during WWII. He fought in the battle of Iwo Jima, where he was injured and received a purple heart. He was discharged in 1946. He worked as a mechanic for awhile. Then during the Korean War he worked for the department of the Navy as an officer. At the end of the war, he was a merchant marine and retired in 1970 with the rank of Chief Purser. In 1977 he moved to Nashua and started PIP Printing which he operated until he retired in 1988. After retirement he worked part-time as a greeter at the K-Mart in Nashua. In 1994 he moved to Manchester. Mr. Sabino enjoyed building and flying model planes, cowboy movies and loved dogs. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed helping. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW in Manchester. He was predeceased by his wife Catherine T. (Dolan) Sabino who died Sept. 18, 2005. Survivors include his 2 daughters Christine Prendergast of Point Pleasant, NJ and Diane Gableman of Ben Lomond, CA; 2 sons, Raymond Sabino of Florida and Philip Sabino of Manchester; brother Richard Sabino of Shelbyville, IL; 6 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In His Life: He was also survived by his son in-law, John Gableman of Ben Lomond, CA; daughter in-law Gail Sabino of Manchester and his sister in-law Barbara Sabino of Shelbyville, IL.
