According to his brother, Edward Brill - "Little Donnie Brill was playing in the barn near their farm house and we believe he found some matches left behind by some of the hobos that knew this farm was a good place to get a meal. Mother Marie was busy inside with new baby, Warren, and soon the barn was ablaze and no one knew that there was a little three-year-old trapped inside. Big brother Eddie was at school that day".
