Elizabeth Mae Arndt (nee Emmerich), 89, of Brownhelm Township died Monday at Amherst Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born in Brownhelm Township, she was raised in Brownhelm Township and attended school there.

She moved to Amherst in 1925 when she was married and then lived in Cleveland, before moving back to Brownhelm Township in 1965, where she made her home ever since.

Mrs. Arndt was a member of the Brownhelm E and R Church in Brownhelm Township and was an active member of the Women's Guild and the Brownhelm Historical Society.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading and cooking.

Mrs. Arndt is survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, in 1966; her parents, August and Julia (nee Miller) Emmerich; brothers Ernest H. Emmerich and Harvey Emmerich; and sisters Helen M. Emmerich and Mattie Decker.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where services will be at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Paul Bucklind, pastor of Brownhelm E and R Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
