Helen M. Emmerich, 84, of Amherst died Sunday at Amherst Manor Nursing Home after a short illness.
Born in Brownhelm, she lived there until 1958 when she moved to Amherst.
A 1929 graduate of Brownhelm High School, she worked for the Amherst Board of Education at Powers Elementary School for 14 years, retiring in 1973.
She was a member of the Brownhelm Evangelical and Reformed Church and the church's Women's Guild.
Survivors include her sister Elizabeth Mae Arndt of Amherst. She was preceded in death by her brothers Ernest H. and Harvey Emmerich; and a sister, Mattie Decker.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst, where services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Paul S. Buckland will officiate.
Burial will be in Brownhelm Cemetery, Brownhelm Township.
Memorials may be made to the Brownhelm Evangelical and Reformed Church for the Open Pantry.
