Funeral services for Lance Lowell Murphy, 78, Ben Wheeler, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Van with Rev. H. Gay Weaver officiating.
Burial was in the Marvin Chapel Cemetery near Van.
Murphy died April 22, at his residence after a lengthy illness.
He was born May 12, 1909, in Van Zandt County, where he lived his entire life. He was a retired clerk with the U.S. Post Office in Van. He was a member of the Friendly Center Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Ophelia Murphy, Ben Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were A. J. Wright, Buddy Wright, Jerry King, Lee Fletcher, Buck Wright, and Earl Stanford.
