REEDSVILLE - Fred H. "Hunce" Kilmer Jr., 81, of 92 Railroad St., Reedsville, died at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at his residence.
Born on Jan. 30, 1927, in Tuscarora, he was the son of the late Fred Havice and Helen G. (Wagner) Kilmer Sr. His wife, Rhoda L. (Baker) Kilmer, preceded him in death on July 2, 1997.
Surviving are: children, Jennifer Kilmer, M.D., and husband, David Stewart, of Alexandria, Va., Jeffery Kilmer and wife, Karen, of Reedsville and Rebecca Yowell and husband, Charles, of Alexandria, Va.; brother, Thomas W. Kilmer, of Phoenix, Ariz.; grandchildren, Jason Stewart, Jonathan Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Mary Stewart, Brandy (Kilmer) Ruff and husband, Chris, Nicholas Kilmer, Seth Kilmer, Harry Yowell, Emma Yowell and Christian Yowell; and a great-granddaughter, Clara Sophia Ruff.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia McClellan and Nina Bowen.
He was a 1945 graduate of Reedsville High School.
He worked for Homer Miller's Grocery Store, drove a school bus, worked for Bill Zeigler Electrical and Plumbing and was later self-employed as an electrican and plumber.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and served in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church and drove for Meals-on-Wheels for many years.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, with the Rev. Kenneth Longfield officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: Reedsville/Milroy Meals on Wheels or Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 547, Reedsville, PA 17084.
