Esther D. Hoover, 92, of 1026 S. Market Street, Galion, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at Village Care Center, Galion, after an extended illness.
Born May 26, 1911 in Crawford County she was the daughter of the late Charles Stogie and Lillian (Beach) Stogie. She was preceded in death on February 20, 1993 by her husband, Robert C. Hoover whom she married on June 12, 1937.
She was formerly a member of Windfall United Church of Christ, VFW Post 4329, Auxiliary and Crawford County Coon Hunters Club. She was a homemaker and enjoyed her family and her role as caregiver. She liked being at home, fishing, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, telling jokes, the outdoors, going for rides and seeing nature.
Surviving are her two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Ed Williams, of Springfield and Homosassa, Fla. and Dolores and Bill Wolfe, of Galion; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Sue Hoover, of Galion; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Bertha Poffenbaugh, of Galion.
She was preceded in death by a son, Mike Hoover; a grandson, Shawn Freeman; three brothers, Harold, Lawrence and Ernest Stogie and two sisters, Mary Nelson and Violet Stogie.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 26 with Pastor Walter Keib officiating. Interment will follow in Leesville Cemetery.
