Prominent Pioneer Resident Dies

Edward M. Campbell, son of Edward and Martha Campbell was born February 15, 1863 near Mound City, Kansas and departed this life June 27, 1949 at the age of 86 years, 4 months and 12 days.

At an early age he moved with his parents to Eik County and became a member of the Chriatian Church always being loyal to the teaching of Christ.

On June 4, 1889, he was united in marriage to Mollie McNabney, and to this union were born six children, two of whom preceded him in death, Mabel Mahan and Neta Stapleford.

In 1892 the family moved to Eureka, Kansas where he spent his remaining years.

Even though he was quite ill, he was aware of the observance of his and Mrs. Campbell's 60th wedding aniversary on June 4, 1949.

Mr. Campbell's years were devoted to his wife and family and he was particularly fond of all of his grandchildren, two of whom they reared in his their home, Gerald Mahan of Hammond, Louisiana and Mrs. Margaret Brazll of Eureka; also his great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife and four children; Ernest Campbell and Mrs. Glenn Warner of Los Angeles, California; Harry W. Campbell of Eureka and Mrs. Leo Lewis of Neal, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Osborne of Howard, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral service was held from the Baird Funeral Home Thursday June 30 at 2:00 Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery.
