Nell Rose Futrell Jordan, 87, died Friday, June 26, 2009, at her residence in Tye, Texas.

Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009, in Drummond Cemetery in View, Texas, with David Jordan officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. The family will receive friends at a visitation 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Nell was born July 22, 1921 to Bessie (Strong) and Frank Edward Futrell in Coleman, Texas. She graduated from high school in Talpa, Texas. She married Gaither Wilson Vaughan. He was killed in action during WW II.

Nell married J. D. Jordan. She was a lifetime resident of Abilene. Nell was a longtime employee of J. C. Penney as a department manager in Abilene and a homemaker. She was a Baptist.

Nell was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; her second husband; two daughters; and one brother.

Survivors include two sons, David Jordan and wife, Sarah, of Lake Brownwood, Texas and Clifford "Jack" Vaughan and wife, Margaret, of Coleman, Texas; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
