Born in Weehawken, she lived there before moving to Toms River in 1969. Jo-Ann was a member of St. Justin The Martyr Church in Toms River. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, mother-in-law and grandmother. Being the best mother and spending cherished time with her adored grandchildren meant the world to her.
She is predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Rose Cangiano.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 49 years, Raphael M. Hughes Sr.; her beloved children, Rachelle Douma and her husband Daniel of Beachwood, Raphael M. Hughes Jr. and his wife Dianne of Forked River, Michael Hughes and his wife Sue of Forked River, Suzanne Krean and husband Chad of Pine Beach and Jo-Ann Hughes of Toms River; her brother, Dr. Ronald Cangiano of New York City; 8 grandchildren, Dr. Candi Sue, Christi Rae, Cara Jo, Michael Brice, Raphael III, Caitlin Rose, Jacob and Cali Rose.
The visitation will be held on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River, NJ. A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 am at St. Justin The Martyr Church 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park in Toms River.
