Mr. Perry was born in Windsor, Berkshire Co. Mass. Dec 20,1806 and was 86 and 14 days old. He was married to a Miss Hannah Jadwin on Sept. 12, 1833 in New Lebanon, NY. They came from Pittsfield, Mass. in 1834 to Ohio, in a one horse wagon and settled in Grafton, Lorain Co. Being 19 days on the way. Three years later he bought a farm in Litchfield, Medina Co. which was then almost a vast wilderness, where they lived for over 52 yrs.
Ten children were born to them, 7 of whom with the wife survived him. Four Daughters and One son were present at the funeral. His ancestors now number 27 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
Being among the early pioneers, they shared all privations and hardships which only those who had the experience
can know, and very few remain who were residence when Mr. Perry came to this part of the country.
He has voted at every election but one since he was 21years old, and voted the Whig ticket until it changed to the Republican and remained a true Republican to the last election. He has taken the Madina Gazette for a great many years ever since it was first published.
They broke up housekeeping and rented the farm four years ago, since which time they lived with daughters, Mrs. Cotter of Cleveland, and Mrs Capell of this place. He was a kind husband and father, a good neighbor and worthy citizen and one who will be greatly missed.
The remains were interred in the Butternut Ridge Cemetery. The lonely wife has the sympathy of a host of friends which
she has made during her stay in this place.}}
