He was a retired farmer. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of Glandale Road Church of Christ, Murray, and a former member of Church of Christ, Russell.
Survivors include two sons, William Smith and wife, Deb, Topeka, and Wayne Smith, Wichita; a daughter, Wanita Sander and husband, Darrell, Marquette, Neb.; a sister, Esther Cohoon, Murray; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Wanda Wagner; two brothers; Walter Smith and Bill Smith; four sisters, Odell Barnett, Marie Parrish, Ruth Rhoades and Katie Joseph; and a grandson, Mark Wagner.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cline's Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Gorham, with military honors by Victoria V.F.W. Post No. 1751. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, both at the mortuary. Memorials are suggested to Russell Church of Christ in care of the mortuary.
