Son of William K. Simmons and Annie Bell Young. He was a soldier in the University of Texas SATC.

The 1900 census of Goliad, Texas, lists Annie Simmons, 31, b. Dec 1969 in KY, and 3 children; Claude C. Simmons, 11, b. Nov 1889, Mable Simmons, 8, b. Oct 1892, Selina Simmons, 6, b. Feb 1894 and another son, Kelly Simmons, 3, b. Oct 1897.

He had been an employee of Houston Lighting and Power Company for eight years.
He was survived by his wife and a baby boy; two brothers, W. K. Simmons of Houston and Frank Howard Simmons of Hereford; three sisters, Mrs. M. Wilkins, Mrs. V. E. Pix and Mrs. J. E. Robinson , all of Houston.

He married Edna Ophelia Spraggins Clarke on February 4, 1914 in Harris, County, Texas. Edna was previously married to Rufus Beale Clarke on March 27, 1912.

After Claude's death, she married George Proctor on June 7, 1919

Sister: Mabel Maude (Simmons) Hagemier, who was first married to Albert William Wielkens in 1910 and again in 1917 in Houston. She married C.C. Hagemier 26 Mar 1923 in Montgomery County, Texas.
