Countess of Huntingdon

Daughter of John Dudley, 1st Duke of Northumberland, and his wife Jane Guilford. Paternal granddaughter of Sir Edmund Sutton Dudley and the Honourable Elizabeth Grey. Maternal granddaughter of Sir Edward Guilford of Rolvenden and Halden, Kent, and Lady Eleanor West.

She married Henry Hastings on 25 May 1553 at Durham House on the Strand, London. Her husband became the 3rd Earl of Huntingdon in 1560.

The couple was childless, but Katherine was dedicated to the education of women and among her pupils were the diarist Margaret Hoby and Ladies Penelope and Dorothy Devereaux, the step-daughters of her brother Robert, Earl of Leicester.

After her husband's death in 1595, Katherine lived at court and became a close friend of Queen Elizabeth. She is buried in her mother's tomb at Chelsea Old Church.

A small rectangular slab of marble, formerly part of the monument to the Duchess of Northumberland is fixed to the east wall of the More Chapel.
