Stanley E. Cox, 76, of Troy died Aug. 15, 2011, at his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with Dr. Vann Kissell and the Rev. John Poor officiating. Entombment will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Larry Harris, Ricky Cossé, Grady Allen, Wayne Blankenship, Earl Downey and Justin Jones.
He was born June 18, 1935, in Nashville, son of the late Robert Irvin Cox and the late Carrie Lee (Haley) Roney. He married the former Peggy Joe Robison Jan. 28, 1977. She survives. He was a retired employee of the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in Union City and was a member of Brainard Avenue Baptist Church in Chicago and of Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City and the Local 878 URW union.
He is also survived by two sons and his daughter-in-law, John Cox of Union City and Bill and Barbara Cox of Troy; his granddaughter, Kara Cox of Troy; his cousin, Betty McWherter of Union City; his stepmother, Mary Frances Cox of Pilot Oak, Ky.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, William Alfred "Red" Roney.
The family reqest that memorials be made to the Obion County Home Town Walk of hope.
