Melissa Elizabeth Dickey was named for her mother and for Melissa Eaves, who came and helped care for two of Melissa's younger sisters when seriously ill. Melissa and her sister Nellie lived together for many years. Melissa worked at the Sexton Factories in Grayville for a time. She also worked for Dr. Dycus in Grayville as his secretary. Melissa entertained her many nieces and nephews with many a fine-spun story. She studied music and did lovely paintings. She also did beautiful hand work--tatting, embroidering, and sewing.
