COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Mary Alice Isom Williams of Cookeville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, in the Cookeville chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home. Graveside services and interment will follow at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville.
Family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, and again Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams died Tuesday morning, Aug. 16, 2011, at NHC of Cookeville.
She was born Feb. 4, 1923, in Nashville to the late Inez Woodlee Isom and Garland Curlee Isom.
Mrs. Williams was a member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ. She was a former member of Gainesboro Church of Christ for more than 25 years, Pelham Church of Christ and Athens Church of Christ for 37 years.
Mrs. Williams grew up in Spencer an graduated from Van Buren High School in 1941. She married her now late husband Herber L. (Dick) Williams on March 1, 1941. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this year, before Mr. Williams' passing on March 6, 2011.
She worked as an Avon representative for 65 years. She also worked for Federal Crop Insurance in Athens. After retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Willaims traveled to 33 countries, attended UT football games and also traveled to several UT Bowl games even as far as Hawaii. They also loved to spend summer vacation at Topsail, N.C., with their children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Williams was a member of the Fort Blount Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Captain Sally Tompkins Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Upper Cumberland Chapter of the United States Daughters of 1812.
Her family includes a daughter and son-in-law, Marr and Joe Temples of Cookeville; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Williams of Goldsboro, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Addie Marr Glenn of Nashville; two granddaughters, Christy Morton and husband John of Holly Springs, N.C., and Holly Rucker and husband Greg of Apex, N.C.; four grandsons, Brad Williams and wife Vanessa of Holly Springs, N.C., Joe T. Temples Jr. and wife Angie of Knoxville, Travis Temples and wife Brittany of Nashville and Scott Temples of Cookeville; seven great-grandchildren, Hunter, Cody and Catilyn Morton, William and Mason Rucker, and Chase and Owen Temples, all of Nashville; and a nephew, Buddy Isom of Nashville.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by a son, Dale Wilson Williams; two brothers, Herman and Howard Isom; and a sister-in-law, Lillian Isom.
Pallbearers will be Mrs. Williams' grandchildren.
