Paula was born September 7, 1950 in Carthage, Missouri, daughter of the late Phillip Pennington and Jessie Mae Pennington.
She attended school in the Joplin area, and lived in Kansas City area for several years working as a Hotel Manager.
Paula returned to Joplin in 1993. She was a member of Royal Heights Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Paula was preceded in death by a brother, Lonnie Johnson, and a sister, Toni Sweet.
Survivors include her three sons, Tracy Sparrow and wife Kathy of Joplin, Chad Sparrow and wife Tami of Tulsa, OK, and Bill Johnson of Springfield, MO; four brothers, Steve Johnson of Springfield, Richard Pennington of Aurora, CO, Dennis Pennington, Denver, CO, and Tim Pennington of Joplin; three sisters, Denise Rich of Joplin, Melanie Raydon of Sarcoxie, MO, Lacretia Pennington of Jasper, MO, ; step-mom, Gail Pennington of Joplin; grandchildren, Kendra and Zack Sparrow of Joplin, Keegan and Kanyen Sparrow of Tulsa, and Bethany Johnson of Springfield.
Memorial services will be Friday, September 8, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Royal Heights Baptist Church (2107 Utica, Joplin), with Rev. Jack Daniels officiating.
