DEATH OF MRS. BLANCHE O'HAIR EARLY FRIDAY
PROMINENT GREENCASTLE WOMAN SUCCUMBS AFTER CRITICAL ILLNESS OF THREE WEEKS-FUNERAL SERVICE HERE SATURDAY MORNING.
The death of Mrs. Blanche Goodwine O'Hair, age 78 years, one of Greencastle's best known and cultured women, occurred in her home on east Washington street at 2:30 o'clock this morning following a critical illness of three weeks. Complications of advance (sic) age was the cause of death.
Short funeral services will be conducted in the home at 7:30 o'clock Saturday evening. Dr. Salem B. Town will be in charge. The funeral party will leave Sunday morning for West Lebanon, where interment will take place. Mrs. O'Hair will be buried by the side of her first husband. Marion Goodwine and her deceased sons.
Mrs. O'Hair has been a resident of Greencastle for the past thirty-five years. She was born in Attica, the daughter of Harry and Hester Brandt and spent her early life there. She was united in marriage to Marion Goodwine and to this union were born four sons, two of whom survive their mother. Fred Goodwine, east Walnut street and Ernest Goodwine, Fort Reno, Okla. Two grandsons, James Marion Goodwine and Glen Goodwine of Urbana, and a sister, Mrs. I. O. Laughlin of Goshen, also survive.
The deceased was an accomplished, talented and cultured woman. She was a skilled wood carver and may beautiful specimens of her work were displayed in her home. China painting was another accomplishment. Mrs. O'Hair was a member of the Methodist church and a member of the Modern Priscilla club.
After the death of her first husband, she was united in marriage to Bascom O'Hair in 1903 and for many years resided in the house where the Rector Funeral Home is now located before moving to her present home just across the street.
