Duluth News-Tribune, Saturday, February 23, 1907:
"Waterloo, Iowa, Feb. 22 - Word has been received here of the death of Nathaniel Beebe in California, at the age of 94. Mr. Beebe had the distinction of being the last of the Pathfinders. He accompanied John C. Fremont across the plains in 1842, and was a friend of the general up to the time of his death. He was the last survivor of Fremont's hardy band that blazed the cross-continental trail. For many years Beebe lived in Waterloo, but of late he has been a resident of California. Burial was at San Diego."
The graves of Nathaniel and his wife, Mary, are unmarked. They are next to their son, Herman.
