Lorraine "Bootsie"'s Story
Lorraine "Bootsie" Myrtle Davis passed away Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, in her home beside her loving husband and surrounded by her loved ones.
Service is 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Mineral Wells Church of God. Visitation 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Whitt Cemetery in Whitt, Texas. Rev. Jerrell Tomlin will officiate.
Lorraine was born June 8, 1935, in Loma, Colo., to Olen and Della Sheets. She was raised in a large family that survived on the power of love and hard work and that is how she lived her whole life. As a young girl her Dad nicknamed her Bootsie. This name stuck with her for her whole life and that most people knew her by.
After leaving home, she went to work as a waitress in Fruita, Colo., where she met her lifelong love, Del Davis. They then forged a life together in the same fashion as she had known all her life, by hard work and a lot of love. She worked in various jobs all her life, but her main duty in life was being of service to others. She was always content with what she had, and you never heard her wish for anything that she didn't have. She was devoted to her family and caring for them was her greatest pleasure. She also made sure that nobody she knew went hungry. She could make a meal out of nothing and feed a small army. She always knew that God would provide.
Lorraine is survived by her soulmate and husband, Delma Davis; sons, Gary Davis and wife Liz, Steve Davis and wife Karen, Doug Davis and wife Marlene, and Raymond Davis and wife Jane; a daughter, Millie Davis Singleton; brother, Timmy Sheets; three sisters, Verna Wright, Lola Martin and Sandy Sheets; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Thelma Palmer, Donna Thayn and Marie Striblen; brothers, Olie Sheets, Ervin Sheets and Larry Sheets; a son, Roy Dino Davis; and two grandkids, Kenny and Jesse Davis.
