Ackley World Journal, Oct. 15, 1992:
Memorial services will be held Friday, October 16, 1992 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church for Arthur Philip Bergman, who died September 29, 1992 at Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls. Father Keith Birch will officiate at the services. Pam King is organist and vocalist is Dave Rowan. Ushers are Bob Schumacher and Eddie Oppold. Lector is Marie Eich and Altar Boys are Jacob Harms and Travis Nuss. Military rites will be conducted by the Elliott-Keninger Legion Post at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. The Brandt Fritz Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Arthur Bergman was born June 9, 1926 at Grundy Center, the son of Joe and Barbara Clara Stelzer Bergman. He received his education at St. Mary's School in Ackley and was an auto mechanic by occupation. On June 19, 1956 he was married to Helen Homan at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ackley. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and of the Elliott-Keninger Legion Post #252.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Ackley; two sons, Joseph Lee Bergman of Cedar Falls and James Arthur Bergman of Ames; three daughters, Cynthia Marie Balvanz of Eldora, Debra Sue Duncan of Iowa Falls and Mary Rose Bergman of Urbandale; two sisters, Darlene Barnholt of Ackley and Donna Swanson of Cedar Falls and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Frank; and a daughter, Diane Bergman.
