Edward J. Braunagel, 86, 241 W. South St., former R. R. 6, resident, died at 7:15 a.m. today at his home.
A lifelong Shelby County resident, Mr. Braunagel was a retired farmer. He had worked at the Admiral Corporation, retiring in 1962, and had also been a well driller. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
A son of Concard and Mary (Thebo) Braunagel, he was born Oct. 29, 1900, in Shelby County. He was married in St. Paul on Sept. 15, 1936, to Mary Fischer, who survives.
Also surviving are sons, Joe Ed Braunagel, Indianapolis, and Frank Braunagel, Fairland; daughter, Mrs. George (Rosemary) Ducharn, Dekalb, Ill., Mrs. Jerry (Helen) Lux, Shelbyville, Mrs. Jose (Anna Marie) Gutierrez, Vevay, Mrs. Frank (Betty) O'Brien and Mrs. Robert (Rita) Whalley, both of Indianapolis, Mrs. Harold (Alice) Smith, Westport, and Mrs. Fred (Dianne) Papalco, Kailue, Hawaii; 26 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Frances Headlee, Shelbyville. Two sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. John Maung officiating. Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Murphy Mortuary where a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. (Obit: The Shelbyville News, April 13, 1987)
