The book, "The Pariss Sims and Related Families 1765-1965," by Almon J. Sims, is one source of information about Josiah Youngblood. Josiah would have been his great, great grandfather. It states, "The Youngblood family, originally of North Carolina, came to Wayne Co. from Rutherford Co., Tn. Josiah and his brother, John, were sons of William and Edith Reed Youngblood.....Josiah has farmed for himself since 1837, the same year he wed Mary Horton, who died in 1879."

Josiah Youngblood married Mary "Polly" Horton. A tenative marriage date for this couple is 1837. Their children were:
