A native of Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late Ora R. Boles (1881–1961) and Emma L. Davis Boles (1881–1964).
Retired from Chrysler in 1966 and spent his retirement years racing go-carts and working on the pit crews in NASCAR and Busch Grand National circuits.
Survivors include a son, Thomas Richard Boles; daughters, Dolores Joan Boles and Annette Sue Boles Cook; and five grandchildren.
Services were held on November 10, 1998, at McFarland Funeral Home, conducted by Dr. Joseph Emery; burial was in Polk Memorial Gardens.
