John H. "Junior" Fischer Jr., 83, of Shelbyville died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006, at his home.
Born May 14, 1923, in Waldron, he was the son of John H. and Pearl (Braunagel) Fischer Sr. He married Virginia L. Fogarty on May 15, 1949, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Madelyn K. (husband, Samuel) Kehrer of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Charlotte Sue Allen of Indianapolis; one sister, Lois Durbin of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, John "Gabe" Allen, Lauren Manning, Christa Allen and Ryan Allen Off; and two great-grandchildren, Morgan Manning and Rachel Manning.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Raymond Fischer; and two sisters, Mary Catherine Mammoser and Berneice McClintock.
Mr. Fischer was a lifelong Shelby County resident.
He had been a self-employed farmer and an electrician for the state of Indiana in the traffic division for 15 years, retiring in 1974.
Mr. Fischer graduated in 1942 from Waldron High School.
He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Fischer was a member of St. Vincent Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the rosary recited at 4 p.m., on Friday at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Landwerlen officiating.
Burial will be in St. Vincent Cemetery in Shelby County, with military rites conducted by local veterans organizations.
