US Congressman. He graduated from Dartmouth College New Hampshire, in 1795, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1798 and commenced to practice law in Leominster, Massachusetts. He was town clerk of Leominster, a member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives, and jurisdiction Justice of the Peace. In 1810, he was elected as a Federalist to the Eleventh Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of William Stedman, was reelected to the Twelfth and Thirteenth Congresses, serving until 1815. Leaving Congress, he resumed the practice of law, was clerk of the courts for Worcester County, Massachusetts, served as trustee-treasurer of Leicester Academy, and was appointed a master in chancery, serving until his death at age 84.
