U.S. Congressman. Immigrating to the United States with his parents 1886, they settled in Massachusetts. He later engaged in manufacturing, engaged in the banking and the insurance business and was a member of the City Council of Worcester, Massachusetts, (1908-11). He also served as president of the board of aldermen, (1913-16), Mayor of Worcester, (1917-19) and was a member of the Governor’s council, seventh Massachusetts district, (1925-28). In 1931, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-second Congress and to the next seven succeeding Congresses, serving until 1947. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his previous business interest until his death.
