EVEREDGE B. "ED" KURTZ, departed this life on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011. He was born on July 25, 1940, in Albion, Mich. He graduated in 1960 from Central High School and joined the United States Marine Corp where he was a Sergeant (E-5) and a Vietnam veteran with many medal honors. After 10 years of service, he then worked for different construction companies as a laborer and later retired. Surviving are a son, Christopher M. Kurtz; granddaughter, Elizabeth Kurtz of Missouri; aunt and mother, Mary E. Jones of Fort Wayne; aunt, Edna Richardson of Fort Wayne; godson, Marcus Merriweather of Fort Wayne; special cousin, Brenda Richardson of Fort Wayne; nieces, Paula Blanton and Deonna B. Rivera; and great nieces and a great nephew, all of Springfield, Mass. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wanda M. Kurtz, Everedge Kurtz Sr. and Sammer Jones; daughter, Elizabeth A. Kurtz; sister, Joann (Joyce) Blanton. "Ed, you will be truly missed by many many family relatives and friends to mourn your passing." Service is 2 p.m. today, Aug. 16, 2011, at Mungovan & Sons Memorial Chapel, 2114 South Calhoun St., with calling one hour prior. Pastor Rufus Jones and the Rev. Charles Glenn officiating.
