On August 15, 2011, Gloria Lee Davis died at Midland Care Hospice House in Topeka, KS following a battle with ovarian cancer. Gloria was born in 1937, the only daughter of Emery and Lydia Beam of Mankato, Kansas. She grew up and attended schools in Mankato, graduating from high school in 1955. Gloria graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in elementary education and later received her Master's Degree in Special Education from ULM in Monroe, Louisiana. While attending KU, Gloria was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority. She enjoyed teaching in the Topeka area, in Silver Lake and at Claiborne Christian School in West Monroe, LA.

For 30 years Gloria was married to Gerald L. (Jerry) Phillips. They were parents of two children, Sally Lee and Phillip Emery. They resided in Texas and Louisiana where Gloria was a beloved teacher at Claiborne Christian School.

In 1994 Gloria married Roy A. Quigley in Topeka. Roy preceded her in death in 2001. In 2004 Gloria was married to John E. Davis. They have resided in Topeka since that time.

Gloria was a member of Wanamaker Woods Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday School, played the organ for services and was president of the Capital City Women's Christian Temperance Union.

Gloria was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Roy Quigley and Jerry Phillips. She is survived by her husband, John Davis of the home; daughter, Sally L. Green and husband Brian of Vicksburg, MS; son, Philip E. Phillips of Wichita; four grandchildren, David Phillips of Shreveport, LA; Matthew Phillips, Wichita; Sydney Albritton and Michael Green of Vicksburg, MS. Also surviving are stepchildren Doug Davis and wife Sally; Cynthia Pfannenstiel and husband, Mike; Mike Davis and wife Kathy; six step grandchildren and eight step great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home at 2801 SW Urish Rd. on Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 6-8 PM. Funeral service will be held Friday, August 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 1:00 PM in Mankato, KS with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
