Anthony J. "Tony" Perra Sr., 91, entered the holy city for his eternal reward on Saturday, August 13. Tony was a WWII veteran, sergeant in the 562nd Air Service Squadron-Army Air Corps and 50-year member of the International Sheet-metal Workers Union-Local 58. He and Betty belonged to the Sacred Heart family Apostolate and the Happy Roamers at St. Vincent's Church. He was predeceased by his parents, Lucia (Taddeo) and Ferdinand Pera; sister, Louise (Neal) DeStefano; infant brother, Edward; and daughter, Lucy Ann. Married to his beloved Elisabeth "Betty" (Bono) for over 69 years, he was also the proud father of nine, Frederick (Karen) Perra, Diane (Albert) Cima, Anthony Jr. (Beth), Marie, Edward (Kim), David (Renee'), Lisa (Lon) Ziankoski and Deborah (Jerry) Blanchard. He delighted in his 16 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday at 9 a.m. in the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Rd., (corner of Buckley Rd.), North Syracuse and 10 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, his family parish home for 50+ years, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. The entire family thanks all VA Medical teams, Self-Direct and New Beginnings for his special care at home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sacred Heart Apostolate, 105 Stanton Avenue, Solvay, NY 13209-1544 or the VA Medical Center, 800 Irving Ave., Syracuse, NY 13210.
