"The LaFayette Sun" - March 24, 1926:

Death Comes Suddenly to Mrs. Ida Schuessler.

LaFayette and community were saddened by the news of the sudden death of Mrs. Ida Schuessler last Monday night about ten o'clock at her home on Montgomery Street. It is reported that Mrs. Schuessler had been in splendid health for some time prior to Monday night except for an occasional attack of acute indigestion. She was seemingly in good spirits when she retired for a night's rest, but within a few minutes after retiring she was discovered in a serious condition and died before medical aid could reach her.
She was the wife of the late Zack Schuessler, who was for a long period of years a potential business factor in the LaFayette and Chambers County. She was a noble character, living always in the admiration of her neighbors and spreading joy and comfort to those who needed her most. She was a faithful and untiring worker in the Methodist church.
The deceased was seventy-four years of age on her last birthday, February 19th. The sudden end came free of pain and suffering, which was so characteristic of her every day life.
Her children, Mrs. Chas. E. Fuller, of LaFayette; Mrs. Annie Laura Battle, Shreveport, La.; Joe Schuessler, of Columbus, Ga.; Perry Schuessler, of LaFayette; Zack Schuessler, of Greensboro, Ala., and Grover Schuessler, of LaFayette, survive her, besides a wide circle of relatives in this section and others.
The funeral services were conducted by Revs. Hope, Johnson, Rucker and White at the Methodist Church today and interment was in the LaFayette Cemetery.
