Charles Dunn Record was born in Redwood City, CA when his parents was living out west, in Nevada and California, and his father mining for silver and gold and cattle ranching. After returning to Maine his father owned a large (the Kent) farm on Kents Hill for some time before purchasing the grist and feed mill on Factory Square and he operated that, known as W.C. Record, until his retirement. Charles Record was in the publishing business for 15 years, in Readfield, Augusta and Waterville. He died suddenly in 1907, in Oakland. His wife, Ruby (Weston) remarried in 1911 to Benjamin Harriman, Jr. of Readfield. Ruby is also buried in Readfield Corner Cemetery, but with her second husband. There were no children from Charles & Ruby's marriage.
