Mrs. Frank Grossman Passed Away Suddenly
Mrs. Frank Grossman, a resident of the Shonkin section for the past 48 years, passed away suddenly at the St. Clare hospital Monday evening. Mrs. Grossman fell at her home on Sunday and fractured her pelvic bone and was brought to the hospital on Sunday afternoon and passed away the following day. She had been in poor health for the past year or more.
Onia Alice Pinkston was born April 29th, 1880, at Kirksville, Missouri, where she spent her early life. She was united in marriage to Frank Grossman on March 26, 1914, at Great Falls, and the following day came to Mr. Grossman's homestead west of Shonkin, where they have continuously made their home. The Grossmans went through the hard times of homestead days and through hard work and careful planning carved out a nice home from the prairies. For many years they milked a number of cows and for some years they made cheese and sold to their neighbors and stores, and always during that period made butter and raised a large number of chickens and sold eggs.
Mrs. Grossman was loved and respected by all who knew her and her passing will be mourned by a large circle of friends. She was a good neighbor and a good friend. She was a member of the First Christian Church in this city.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Carl and Henry Grossman, both of the Shonkin area; also three sons by a previous marriage, Edgar and Ernest Bailey, both of Missouri, and Roscoe Bailey of Indiana; two daughters by the previous marriage preceded her in death. A sister, Dora Moore, of Portland, Ore., and a brother Bill Pinkston of Missouri, also survive her.
Funeral services will be held from the Benton Funeral Home chapel on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and will be conducted by Rev. W. Lloyd Hanely, pastor of the church. Burial will be made in the family plot in Riverside cemetery.
