ESTEEMED AKRON CITIZEN IS CALLED
Joseph Beach Dies at His Home After Extended Illness Last Week

Brief mention was made in these columns last week of the death of Joseph Beach at his home in this city on Tuesday, April 28, 1931, after an extended illness of heart trouble and complications, aged 78 years, 11 months and 4 days.

Joseph Martin Beach was born near Monroe, Wisconsin, May 24, 1852, and spent his boyhood days there. In 1872, when he was 21 years of age, he came to Le Mars, Plymouth County, Iowa, and later located in Akron. He was united in marriage with Mrs. Lizzie Tillotson, of Akron, October 22, 1895, and to this union was born four daughters and three sons. He was proceeded in death by his loving companion on May 30, 1930. Mr. Beach farmed for many years west of here in Union County, S.D., but retired a few years ago and moved to Akron with his family, which has since been their home. He was a man of honorable upright, industrious traits; a kind and devoted husband and father, and his quiet, friendly way brought him the esteem and respect of all with whom he came in contact. He will be missed and mourned by a host of friends in this community, where he lived and labored so many years.

He leaves to mourn his departure seven children; Mrs. Carrie Harkness, of Sedrow Wooley (Sedro Wooley), Wash.; Mrs. Chas. Carpenter, Mrs. Mark Coleman, Miss Viva Beach, John George and Leo Beach, all of Akron and vicinity; also by two brothers, Robert Beach, of Akron, and Wm. Beach, of Monroe, Wis., and sixteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Akron Church of Christ, of which the deceased had been a consistent member for nearly thirty years. The service was conducted by the pastor, O.M. Keyes, and there was a large attendance of sympathizing friends. A quartet sang favorite hymns. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
