Tom "Buck" Johnson, 36, of Idaho Falls, was drowned in Hazelton Lake, near here, last night when with other members of a picnic party, including his bride of a few months. He went swimming after lunch on the lake shore.
In a desperate effort to rescue Johnson, Henry Huggins of Hazelton almost sacrificed his own life. The two men had worked for the Mittry Construction company.
Johnson's body was recovered four hours after it disappeared in more than 10 feet of water and nearly 200 feet from shore. The body was brought here, pending arrival of a brother from Idaho Falls. Johnson was a member of the American Legion post at Idaho Falls.
