Linda Burgner Krebs, wife of Edward G. Krebs, Jr., passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, at her home in Marietta, Ga. A long-time resident of Atlanta, she completed most of her education there and retired with the City of Atlanta after an extensive career of service with its Bureau of Personnel.

A member of the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, Linda graduated in 1970 from Emory University with a degree in psychology. She went on to study music therapy, and later completed her academic career by earning a Ph. D. from the School of Education at Georgia State University. Although she was gifted in academics, the personnel office at Atlanta's City Hall became the laboratory for her to implement her skills in testing and evaluation.

In 1998, Linda retired from the City as personnel manager, ready to invest in a fresh calling, marriage to a fellow civil servant she had met and fallen in love with in the early seventies. She and Edward built a home together in Marietta, a base from which they enjoyed travel around the country and Europe, ultimately visiting all 50 states. Linda was passionate about animals, especially her cats Oliver, Gordon and Greyson, and their home, bordering Kennesaw Mountain, afforded her ample opportunities to care for the wildlife that would come to their door. Linda was also a talented singer, performing with several chorales over the years and would often celebrate holidays with family by singing and playing into the night.

Linda is survived by her husband, Edward G. Krebs, Jr.; two brothers & sisters-in-law, Rob & Maureen Burgner; Greg & Ruth Burgner; one sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Pam & Randy Evatt; their son, Bradley & his wife and daughter, Laura and Ivy; and many friends in Atlanta and Marietta.

You may send a floral arrangement or make a donation to your favorite animal rescue in loving memory of Linda.

Services were held on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta with Rev. Greg Burgner officiating. Burial was at Forest Hills Cemetery in Forest Park.
