Services for Richard E. Hagen, who died October 17 in the Roseau Area Hospital, were held Tuesday, October 20, 1980 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Free Lutheran Church with Rev. Jerome Nikunen officiating. Interment was in Moe-Rose Cemetery.
Richard Hagen was born March 27, 1887 in Portland, ND. to Mr. and Mrs. Erick Hagen. He came to Roseau with them as a child and had made his home here since.
He was a carpenter and farm laborer most at his life.
He was married to Bertina Skogen in Roseau in 1907 and she preceded him in death as did his parents, a son and 12 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by the following children: Alvin Hagen, Fargo, ND; Lillian (Mrs. Raymond Sauer), West Bend, WI; Milford, Kenneth, Arlyn and Donald Hagen, all of Roseau; Dorothy (Mrs. George Brooks), Seattle, WA; 35 grandchildren and a number of great and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Oscar Simley, Mayville, ND and Mrs. Anton Starren, Roseau.
He was Lutheran by faith.
Pallbearers at the funeral were Eugene, Jerry, Leslie, Dale, Jon and Warren Hagen. Honorary bearers were Knute Byfuglien, Oscar E. Olson, John Torgerson, Ingvald Stenbekken, Elmer Holland and Arnold Sorteberg.
Funeral arrangements were by Helgeson Funeral Chapels, Roseau.
