CLEMONS, Bobby Joe, 84, of Varina, departed this life, August 12, 2011. Born in Hillside, Kentucky on November 6, 1926, he was preceded in death by his father and mother, Howell Thomas and Louise Underwood Clemons; and his only brother, Sidney Earl. He served in the Merchant Marines as a communication officer. He served in the Korean Conflict. He was retired from Waco, Inc. as a northern utilities superintendent. He was a member of the VFW, Chapter 9808, the American Legion-Post 242 and the Sandston Moose Lodge. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Edna Meador Clemons; two sons, Mike Clemons (Sallie) and Tommy Clemons (Alison); one daughter, Martha Harris (Ronnie); six grandchildren, Phillip Harris, Sarah Patterson, JoAnna Harris, Anna Lowry, Kelly Huckstep and Robert Clemons Jr.; three great- grandchildren, Mikayla Harris, Adleigh Huckstep and Grayson Patterson. The family will receive friends at Nelsen Funeral Home, Monday, August 15, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, at 11 a.m., at Nelsen Funeral Home. Interment will be at Pioneer Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pioneer Baptist Church New Building Fund, 3140 Darbytown Road, Richmond, Va. 23231.
