On the evening of Sunday, August 14, 2011, Scott Edward Cartwright passed from mortality surrounded in love by his wife and six children.
Scott was born April 12, 1957 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Arlo and Donna (Snell) Cartwright. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1975. After serving an LDS mission in Frankfurt, Germany, he married Marjorie Abegg on July 5, 1978 in the Salt Lake Temple.
Scott attended the University of Utah, and made a successful thirty-year career as a financial advisor for Smith Barney, Dean Witter, Morgan Stanley, and most recently, Wells Fargo Advisors. He was considered a dedicated employee, trusted colleague, and respected manager.
Scott loved sports, and spent much of his free time coaching the youth of our community. He was an avid BYU, Utah Jazz, Indianapolis Colts, and SF Giants fan. His favorite pastime was golfing.
Scott championed the underdog, and loved without reservation. Scott opened his home and heart to legions of friends, and fostered a beautiful life for his family.
He left a great legacy for his children: Ann Bangerter (Scott); Michelle Money; Jeffrey Cartwright; Paul Cartwright; Douglas Cartwright; Denise Cartwright; one precious granddaughter; two adorable step-grandchildren; his sister, Lori Workman; and sister-in-law Debra Cartwright. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, David S. Cartwright.
A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Memorial Estates Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah. The funeral will be held in the LDS Chapel at 1770 East Spring Lane (5240 South), Holladay, Utah, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011, with a viewing that morning from 10:45-11:45 a.m.
