He was educated at Monmouth Academy, Boston public schools, and private tutors; received L.D., Iowa College; M.A., Bates College. Managing editor of the NORTH AMERICAN REVIEW, 1879-85; founder and editor of THE FORUM, 1886-91; founder and editor of THE FLORIDA DAILY CITIZEN, 1893; contributor to various other periodicals.
