Thursday, August [8?, 1889]
--Charles King, of Nunda, committed suicide Wednesday afternoon by hanging himself in his own barn. He had been subject to melancholy at various times. His son and wife had been away all day and on returning called to him. Receiving no reply his son went to the stable which he found locked on the inside, but going around to a window he saw the lifeless body hanging. Every precaution had seemingly been taken to make a success. The coroner was notified but did not deem it necessary to hold an inquest.
