US Congressman. Born in Nantucket, Massachusetts, he was president of the New England Marine Insurance Company, member of the Massachusetts State House of Representatives (1783-84, 1789) and served in the Massachusetts State Senate, (1785- 86, 1790-92). In 1793, he was elected as a Pro-Administration candidate to the Third Congress, serving until 1795. After his term, he was again a member of the Massachusetts State Senate (1795-96, 1802) and was Massachusetts State Treasurer, (1797-1802). He died at age 48 in Boston, Massachusetts.
