Mr. Souel Berry Rowe, age 61, of Conover, North Carolina, formerly of Rowe, Virginia passed away Saturday (August 13, 2011) at his home. Born February 5, 1950 in Rowe, Virginia, he was a son of Martha Barton Rowe Hall of Abingdon, Virginia, and the late Ellis Rowe. He had spent most of his life in the West Virginia area before moving to North Carolina one year ago. He was a coal miner for many years and was a member of the UMWA.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by grandparents, Abe and Nora Barton and John Souelberry and Elendar Vandyke Rowe; one brother, Dexter Rowe, and three infant siblings, Nora Elendar Rowe, Wanda Rowe, and Markrum Abe Rowe.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Mary Rowe of the home; two sons, Berry Allen Rowe and Souel Dean Rowe both of Elkview, West Virginia; three grandchildren, Keith Allen Rowe, Souel Dean Rowe, Jr., and David Alexander Rowe all of Elkview, West Virginia; two brothers, Fred Rowe and wife, Elizabeth of Rowe and Ellis B. Rowe and wife, Joyce of Morristown, Tennessee; three sisters, Patty Taylor and husband, Andy of Abingdon, Virginia, Fonnie Hess and husband, Elihue of Honaker and Allie Hess and husband, Brady of Rowe; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Ancil Childress and Rev. Arvil Arwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Rowe Family Cemetery at Rowe, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Allen Rowe, Dean Rowe, Richard Rowe, Chester Rowe, and Johnny Rowe.
Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Jamison, Andrew Taylor, Ellis B. Rowe, and Fred Rowe.
