Born 1921 in Billings, MT, Hal moved to Eagle Grove and later graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. After attending Drake University, he enlisted in the Army Air Force and served as a 1st Lieutenant during WWII. He was a flight instructor, clocking over 2000 hours in the air. Hal then served in the Air Force Reserves. He retired from Kohler Co. in 1983 after a 31-year career. He was a member of the Elks Club Lodge #98 where he won many billiards tournaments, the Za-Ga-Zig Temple and Scottish Rite. An avid golfer and lover of the game, he was a long-time member of Hyperion Field Club.
Visitation will be Wednesday at Westover Funeral Home beginning at 1:30 p.m. Funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m., with burial at Masonic Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Federated Church, 4800 Franklin Ave, Des Moines.
