State, The (Columbia, SC) — Saturday, May 29, 2004
WILLISTON - Services for Helen Nightingale Carpenter, 91, will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 30, 2004 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel in Williston, with Eastern Star Rites accorded. Reverend Tom Summers officiating. Burial at Barnwell Memory Gardens on Reynolds Road, Visitation 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Folk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carpenter died Friday, May 28, 2004, while at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, RaVae and Sonny Langford of Hilton Head. She was born February 5, 1913 in Corning, Kansas and was the daughter of the late Elmer and Maggie Nightingale. In addition to her parents , she was preceded in death by her husband, Loren Carpenter and a brother Byron Nightingale. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, RaVae and Sonny Langford of Hilton Head; her son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Belinda Carpenter of Williston; six grandchildren and their spouses: David and Andrea Rasmussen, Chris Langford and Carol Hamilton and Lori Langford all of Hilton Head; Shannon and Beth Carpenter of Atlanta; Sally and Scott Lyle of Augusta; Joe and Cristy Coretti of Augusta; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Strickler's Business School in Topeka, Kansas and moved to Williston in 1951. She was a homemaker and formerly worked at the Bud Berma Company as a secretary. She was a member of the Williston United Methodist Church and a member of her beloved Ackerman Chapter 198 Order of the Eastern Star.
