George was the son of Ray and Bernice Pfeiler. He married Rose Hoeger on Dec 27, 1962 at St. Francis Xavier in Dyersville.
George received his BA in Business Administration from Loras College in 1961. He owned and operated the family farm in Centralia until 1991. After selling the farm, he worked as a sales associate at Theisen's in Dubuque for 12 years. He also served as a volunteer for the Centralia Fire Department for 28 years - he served as a first responder and also served part of the time as an Assistant Fire Chief for the department.
