Hallie G. Cregger, 82, died Thursday, July 5, 2007, at Smyth County Community Hospital.
She was born in Rich Valley to the late Sally Buchanan and John Phipps. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Cregger; brother, Eldee Phipps; her sister, Nannie Armstrong; and her longtime companion, William Blevins.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Vickie Phipps of Chilhowie; one brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Betty Buchanan of Rockville, Md.; two grandchildren, James Phipps and fiancée, Rachel Combs of Chilhowie, and Jeanette McDaniel and husband, Scott, of Ranson, W.Va.; three great-grandchildren, Atlanta Phipps, Scott McDaniel Jr. and Colton McDaniel; sister-in-law, Marie Phipps of Marion; and four nieces, Vernetta Williams, Jean Blevins, Sandy Mathaney, Christine Cook and husband, Jimmy, all of Marion, and Connie Milligan of Walkersville, Md.
Funeral services will be held at the Bradley's Funeral Home Chapel in Marion with the Rev. David C. Burgess officiating. Interment will follow in Ridgedale Cemetery. Bradley's Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of arrangements.
