In October 1903, a large group of Carter family burials (including other ancestral surnames) at Barkhamsted Center Cemetery were moved to Riverside Cemetery in a raised tier on the western edge, accessed by formal stairs with an imposing "Carter" obelisk on axis and centered within the tier.

The following three Taylor headstones are immediately to the left (south) of the obelisk:

Center headstone: William Taylor, Jr., 1757-1835; original stone moved from Barkhamsted Center Cemetery to Riverside Cemetery and placed flat over burial in 1903 reinterment,

Right Headstone: his wife, Abigail (Case) Taylor, 1758-1830; also similarly reinterred but the original headstone (just below turf level in 2012), was unearthed in 2019,

Left Headstone: his mother, Ruth (Rich) Taylor, 1758-1830, NOT reinterred although seemingly planned by evidence of this stone, she was later moved with all other burials when the Barkhamsted Center Cemetery was relocated in 1939 (see Find A Grave Memorial# 85681651). She is buried with her grandson (son of William and Abigail) and William and Abigail's daughter-in-law, Nancy Wickham Taylor, 1785-1813.

He lurks on every flower;
Each season has its own disease,
Its peril every hour!
